JVC Everio GZ-R450B

Top model offers 1080/60p AVCHD Progressive Recording

WAYNE, NJ, June 23, 2015 - Capturing life’s adventures on video isn’t always smooth sailing, which is why JVC today announced two new rugged, weather-proof camcorders that can endure foul weather, get bounced around and still be ready to shoot. Their all-weather features, five-hour battery life, powerful optical zoom and other advanced functions offer opportunities to create unique videos that can’t easily be captured with a smartphone.

The two new JVC Everio camcorders – the GZ-R450 and GZ-R320 – feature JVC’s Quad-Proof structure that is waterproof to a depth of 16.4 feet, can withstand a drop from 4.9 feet, is freeze-proof down to 14° and dust-proof. What’s more, both camcorders float.

All this durability comes in a camcorder form factor with video recording functions such as high-powered 40x optical zoom, advanced image stabilization and large LCD monitor. In addition, the GZ-R450 offers 1080/60p AVCHD Progressive Recording for pristine HD video.

The battery is internal for superior water resistance, which eliminates the risk of damaging the camcorder when exchanging batteries in bad weather. The battery’s five-hour life is easily extended thanks to the camcorders’ compatibility with third-party portable batteries* – the type widely available for smartphone charging.

Not only are the Everio camcorders more rugged than smartphones, they also offer the advantage of superior optics. The large-caliber KONICA MINOLTA HD LENS features a high-quality 40x optical zoom and 60x Dynamic Zoom that uses the camcorders’ powerful 2.5M Back-illuminated CMOS Image Sensor to maintain the picture’s HD resolution. The FALCONBRID image processing engine, the same processor used in JVC 4K professional cameras, delivers clear, sharp images and sound, and the footage is compatible with third party editing software such as iMovie or Final Cut Pro. Audio quality is further enhanced with JVC’s K2 Technology, applied during recording for effective sound restoration during playback.

The top-end Everio GZ-R450 features AVCHD progressive recording, a built-in Auto Illumi. Light and 32GB internal memory. Its new Close-up Sub-Window function allows simultaneous recording of a group of people and a close-up, displayed in a sub-window on the touchscreen.

The GZ-R450 comes in black while the GZ-R320 is available in black and orange. The black versions feature a rugged, coarse surface that doesn’t show fingerprints and smudges.

The GZ-R450 carries a suggested retail price of $499.95, while the GZ-R320 is priced at $399.95. Both camcorders will be available in late July.
